AndyGrant After an earlier deluge of rain left Euxton FC pitch resembling the swamps of Florida's Everglades, the only thing missing was the Alligators. The conditions did not mar a very good game of football full of technique and pure grittiness mostly produced by FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B. The FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B score line did not reflect the chances missed and saves pulled off by Euxton FC goalkeeper. Many of the FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B Goals came from very good interplay from the defence through the midfield to the forwards. . Some very fine defending by FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B kept Euxton chances to a minimum with the all round team commitment allowed FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B to end the 1st Half at 5 -1 from fine goals scored by Craig Riley 1, Charlie Jones 2, and Steve Williams 2. Opportunities lost 8. The 2nd Half started with a flutter by Euxton FC, although expected FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B did enough to contain the attacks and then picked up where they left off in the 1st half. Again FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B created chance after chance and lucky not to score more, although as the game preceded Euxton FC put some penetrating attacks and only by some resolute defending in the penalty box thwarted the attempts. As of the nature with heavy pitches it started to take its toll on players and substitutions were made for Peter Porter (injury) replaced by resolute player Ryan Johnson and then speedy Will Jones on for Charlie Jones with James Mea following replaced by hard solid player Joe McQuade, all having an impact of lifting the team to keep the pressure on Euxton FC. From this pressure FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B scored their 6th goal, again from good interplay to open up Euxton defence. FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B 6th goal was scored by Phil Symes. Euxton scoring a consolation goal marred the 2nd half.

The Game ended with FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B as winners scoring 6 to Euxton FC 2, with the Alligators and Frogs coming a close 3rd.

OVERALL.

On the day FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B was the better team and fully deserved the win. The tenacity and skill shown in the game by FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B out fought and out shone the technical skill played by Euxton FC.

MOM.

The management team had a dilemma to pick the MOM award, from FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B game display it could have been one of many, but in the end Phil Symes just shaved it and was giving the MOM award for his attitude and skill shown in the game.

SQUAD SYSTEM

Second game in the Division 1 cup saw a different FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B from the last game 2 - 2 draw with Morecambe FC. We move forward as a team and defended as a team. For the first time in a long while the team was doing the talking on the pitch to each other. The line was quiet, blessing to those who stand by us. This is a great step forward as it enhances FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B other attributes. The most important thing in FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B game is that we did not allow the conditions to affect our football, with the added bonus of not getting involved with the referee on any decisions. We allowed the referee to get on with the game which highlighted the good playing attitude slowly being develop in the players minds, either that the state of the pitch the lads didn't have the energy to argue. Another of FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B features was their fitness, which again came to the fore in this game.

LEADING GOAL SCORER

FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B 5 V Marine B 1

SQUAD ON THE DAY

newsletter-icon Team Manager: Peter Porter (Senior) - Team Secretary: Fred Garbett Team Coach: Peter Symes - Team Coach: Mark Sinnott GOAL KEEPER: Jon Wilson - GOAL KEEPER: Paul Owens - RIGHT BACK: Sam Garbett RIGHT BACK: Ryan Johnson - CENTRE BACK: Michael Brown - CENTRE BACK: Peter Porter LEFT BACK: Terry Sweeney - LEFT BACK: Paul Vernon - RIGHT MIDFIELD: James Mea - CENTRE MIDFIELD: Craig Riley = CENTRE MIDFIELD: Jack Sinnott - LEFT MIDFIELD: Steve Williams - FORWARD: Charlie Jones - FORWARD: Phil Symes - FORWARD: William Jones

Sunday's weather was for Mary Poppins enthusiasts, high wind, although luckily the wind was across the ground and not from one end to the other. Marine B settled down first and for the first 25 minutes was ahead of FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B and scored the first goal through some confusion between the defence and midfield.

From the kick off FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B started to combat more for the ball and started to harry Marine B. As the first half went on FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B started to put good passing movements together and edge ahead in the game, which created the equalising goal. This came from Phil Symes blistering run to chase down the ball in the penalty area and under pressure was able to loop a pass to Charlie Jones who used his skill and strength to score.

From the 2nd half whistle Marine B started to work the ball, FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B counter attack and FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B 2nd goal came about by good creative play that allowed Phil Symes through some clever footwork to slot the goal across the Marine B keeper. The other goals that came were as good in there own right. 3rd Goal came by Charlie Jones whose unselfish running and strength under pressure by Marine B defence to slot it pass the keeper.

Due to the hard work under abnormal weather conditions fresh players were introduced, first Terry Sweeney was replaced by Paul Vernon on the left side and Sam Garbett by Ryan Johnson on the Right hand side of the defence.

When the 4th goal was scored, "you would not have believe it if you wasn't there to have seen it", came from a free kick taken just into Marine B half by Michael Brown which lobbed the keeper and ended in the goal.

Again through Charlie's relentless work to attack Marine B defence, was upended in the penalty box, which our 'man of the moment' duly took and scored from the penalty spot scoring FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B 5th and Charlie Jones hat trick.

On that cue on scoring his hat trick was replaced by our ever ready forward William Jones from Wrexham FC to carry on the relentless front-man role.

OVERALL.

This game was played in good old fashion style with plenty of commitment and strength and skill, which showed how far FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B has come since the Season started.

Although the report makes it look one sided it was far from that, Marine B played with plenty of commitment and skill and competed as much as FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B did. The only downside was how Marine B was affected by the game by committing cynical tackling, which put Assassination as a bye word and the Mafia to shame.

MOM

mom There were many contenders to Man of the match, it could have been giving to the whole squad, in the end it was giving too Michael Brown for his industrious work and his goal.

SQUAD SYSTEM

This was an outstanding squad display, although the team started slowly and conceding a goal, in the latter part of the 1st Half and all through the second half performed some outstanding moves that produced FOOTBALL FOR HEROES B 5 goals through the Defence working hard and keeping they heads under pressure and standing firm and were involved in creating moves with the Midfield to cause problems along the Marine flanks. Midfield battled hard and produced creative play with hardworking skilful play by our flank players. With our front men not only up front but tracking back to defend or working to help the midfield.

Congratulations to Manager Peter Porter for his team tactics which kept Marine B on they toes.

LEADING GOAL SCORER

Our own Charlie Jones top scorer in the North West Alliance League (Premier and 1st Division) with 14, well done! Charlie.
